What You Gain
Choosing
Velaris
Smaller groups, better food, genuine maritime expertise — and a clear, all-inclusive price before you commit.
Return HomeCore Benefits at a Glance
Six things that consistently matter to guests who book with us more than once.
Maximum Six Guests
No tour leaves with more than six guests. The deck isn't crowded, the crew knows your name, and the anchoring spots feel like your own for the time you're there.
Experienced Local Crew
Our captain and deck officer have worked these specific waters for a combined 25+ years. They know where the coral formations are healthiest, where sightings tend to occur, and where to anchor for shelter.
Inclusive Pricing
The price quoted before you book is the price you pay at the dock. Meals, equipment, crew gratuity, and park fees where applicable are included. No itemised extras arrive at the end.
Food Worth Eating
Meals are planned and prepared fresh — not catered from a central kitchen. Nasi goreng and Sabahan coffee at dawn, grilled squid and coconut rice at midday. Dietary needs are addressed with advance notice.
A Well-Maintained Vessel
The yacht undergoes a full technical inspection every six months. Guests board a vessel that is clean, in working order, and equipped with current safety gear — not the minimum required by regulation, but what we'd want if we were on board as guests.
Weather-First Decisions
If the sea state is not appropriate, we reschedule rather than sail in marginal conditions. Our crew monitors forecasts carefully and communicates early — you'll hear from us before you leave for the marina.
Maritime Knowledge You Can Feel
There's a clear difference between a licensed captain who learned these routes from a manual and one who has been sailing them for nearly two decades. Our lead captain can tell you the name of the reef formation you're anchoring over, the tidal pattern affecting the crossing, and what the cloud formation to the west likely means for the afternoon. This knowledge is part of what you're paying for.
"We had a question about the tide timing two days before the Sunrise Tour and Lina responded within the hour with a detailed explanation. That kind of responsiveness carries through to the tour itself."
Attentive from First Contact to Last Mile
Booking with Velaris involves a direct conversation with someone who actually knows the tours. Questions get real answers, not scripted replies. Pre-departure briefings are thorough without being overly formal. On the water, crew attentiveness matches the pace guests set for the day.
Pricing That Reflects the Full Picture
Comparing tour prices across different operators can be frustrating when some include meals, equipment, and activities, and others add these at the dock. Velaris prices include everything listed in the itinerary. The Dinawan tour price includes snorkel gear and kayaks. The Overnight price includes all meals, cabin accommodation, and the full range of island activities. There's no guessing about what you're paying for.

Features That Don't Come Standard
Itineraries Built Around Tides and Light
Departure times are set based on tidal windows and light conditions for each tour — not just whatever time suits a schedule. The Sunrise Tour departs at a time that puts the yacht at anchor just as dawn breaks over the South China Sea.
Mountain and Sea in a Single View
Mount Kinabalu's silhouette is visible from the water on clear mornings. Our routes are planned to make the most of this geography — the sunrise tour is specifically designed around this. You won't find this framing on speedboat transfers.
Marine Guide On Every Water Activity
Adi, our deck officer, is a certified marine guide with deep knowledge of the reef systems around Dinawan and the TAR islands. Snorkel briefings go beyond the basics — guests who want species identification get it.
Overnight Access to Pulau Tiga
Pulau Tiga's volcanic mud pools and snake island sandspit require an overnight stay to experience properly. Our two-day voyage is one of the few private yacht offerings from Kota Kinabalu that includes an overnight at anchor near this island.
