I've lived in KK for years and had never done the sunrise from the water. It was worth the early wake-up. Kinabalu in the background, the sea quiet and golden — I'm honestly glad I finally did this. The nasi goreng was better than expected too.

The clarity of the water at Dinawan is something I hadn't anticipated. Adi's reef briefing was detailed and he pointed out species I would have swum past without a second look. The barbecue lunch on the stern was a nice touch — simple food, right setting.

We took the overnight tour as a group of four. The cabin was compact but functional — I slept well and woke up already at anchor near Tiga. The mud volcano was genuinely strange and worth the morning walk. My one comment: I'd have liked slightly more time at the snake island sandspit, but that's a minor thing.

I asked before booking whether Velaris would take just two of us on the tour. They confirmed the price stays the same regardless — I appreciated the transparency. The reef at Dinawan had soft corals in very good condition and the kayaking in the shallows was relaxed and easy.

Booked the sunrise tour for my parents who were visiting from KL. They're not particularly adventurous on the water but the crew made everything comfortable. Razlan gave a calm, informative commentary the whole way and my parents came back genuinely impressed. Will book again for different family visits.

Velaris handled a dietary request (vegetarian) for me without making it an issue. The replacement meal options were well prepared. The overnight itself was peaceful — the dinner on deck with the sunset was the highlight. Comfortable enough for two nights if they ever extend the route.
